The girl behind the cameo
ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
I’m Jacqueline Powell Gibson, a visual artist, maker, and lifelong lover of beautiful things with a story.
I create hand-drawn portraits, paintings, illustrations, and original artwork inspired by the people, places, and little details that make life feel like our own.
I’m a Birmingham native, raised in the ’burbs with frequent trips downtown and a young adulthood spent amongst the avenues of Southside. Birmingham has always been a part of how I see the world, and its eclectic mix of old and new, grit and beauty, often finds its way into my work...you could say there’s a little bit of home in everything I make.
I began my professional art journey in 2017, but creating things has always been a part of who I am. Over the years, my work has grown across different mediums and techniques, with a particular love for the little imperfections that remind you something was made by hand. These days, my studio is home to everything from portraits of people and beloved pets to original drawings, paintings, limited-edition prints, and artwork made for life's special occasions.
At the heart of it all, I believe art should mean something.
It should remind you of someone you love, take you back to somewhere you've been, or simply make you feel a little more at home. My hope is that the things I create don't just fill a wall or sit on a shelf, but become part of your story—pieces you live with, love, and maybe one day pass along.
Homegrown, hand-drawn, and made to be kept.
